We Value Our Community
Our commitment to community engagement is shown through meaningful actions that enrich lives across all ages and abilities. We visit retirement homes to bring companionship and joy to the elderly, maintain The Joondoburri Walk to ensure safe and enjoyable experiences in nature, and create opportunities for families and community volunteers to come together through events and activities. These efforts build strong connections, foster inclusivity, and provide meaningful contributions that benefit everyone involved, especially our children, families, and staff.
We Value Play
We believe play is essential to a child’s growth and well-being. Play allows children to explore their creativity, build their imagination, and develop physical strength and dexterity. It plays a crucial role in healthy brain development, helping children make sense of the world around them, solve problems, and build resilience. Beyond its developmental benefits, play is a simple joy and a cherished part of childhood, fostering happiness and a sense of belonging. We also value and uphold the rights of every child.
We Value Nature

We are dedicated to sustainability and providing children with a rich environment for exploration, learning. Our natural playground includes sensory paths, rainforest mist sprays, dry and wet creek beds, a mud kitchen, water channels, and vegetable gardens. Through our Bush, Creek, and Beach Play programs, children experience the wonders of the environment firsthand, learning to respect and care for the natural world. We believe that engaging with nature nurtures curiosity, and instills a lifelong appreciation for the environment.

Our Mission Statement
What we are committed to achieving,
Our centre is dedicated to maintaining a welcoming family space while nurturing each child to fulfil their potential in a stimulating, challenging, and safe environment—a haven where families, staff, and children can research, grow, and discover together. We provide a nurturing teaching and learning environment that fosters children’s confidence and self-esteem. We are committed to engaging with, promoting, and implementing environmental sustainability in children’s learning experiences. We strive to provide an inclusive environment that promotes competence, independence, exploration, and learning through play.
Our Vision
What our future looks like,
We believe that all children are unique individuals who learn at their own pace. We recognise children as social beings, full of curiosity and imagination, with the potential and desire to find connections and meaning in all their experiences. We acknowledge that all children have rights, especially the right to be heard, respected, feel safe, and have a sense of belonging to their family, kindergarten, and community. We see this as the foundation for becoming responsible global citizens.

Our Philosophy

At Bribie Island Community Kindergarten, we strive to create a warm, nurturing environment that supports the growth of the whole child. Our program is grounded in secure, respectful, and reciprocal relationships among children, families, community groups, support agencies, and educators. We foster positive peer connections and provide a stimulating, play-based, child-centred environment that strengthens friendships and promotes collaboration.

In practice, we focus on your child’s emotional wellbeing and social connections, which we believe lay the foundation for intellectual growth. We build relationships with each child and support them in building relationships with one another. Our approach centres on helping each child feel respected and valued, while learning to respect others' feelings. We encourage children to take turns, share, ask for help, and develop empathy by recognising and responding to others’ emotions. This fosters a community of tolerance, compassion, and respect. By learning to manage stress, accept mistakes, understand emotions, it's okay to be angry, and take safe risks, children grow into resilient, creative problem-solvers who trust themselves and others.

We also challenge ourselves as educators to support your child’s development in all areas. Our programming identifies intentional teaching methods to nurture their emotional, social, intellectual, creative, musical, physical, and moral growth. We recognise that learning is holistic and highly value the natural learning that occurs through play, based on each child’s interests, responses, and the insights you share with us. By extending these interests, we create opportunities for children to explore, collaborate, problem-solve, and develop curiosity and persistence as they grow.

We recognise that families are their child’s first teacher in early learning and development. Partnerships between educators, families, and other professionals allow us to build on each other’s knowledge, supporting the success of early childhood learning. We understand that children learn best within a supportive network that includes parents, caregivers, and the broader community. By fostering a warm, welcoming environment and working together, we enhance each child’s capacity to learn and thrive.

We strive to foster strong connections between home, family, and kindergarten. During the enrollment process, we invite you to share your and your child's hopes, dreams, and expectations for their kindergarten year. We encourage you to share your social, cultural, and family traditions with us. We aim to support the bond between you and your child and help them build a wider network of secure relationships.

We're committed to open and honest communication. We'll share our insights, value your input, and work together to make decisions. Our written updates provide detailed information about your child's experiences, our goals, and opportunities for you to engage with them about their time at kindergarten. We encourage you to share your child's interests and preferences through informal chats, emails, communication sheets, meetings, and Storypark.

We are committed to equality and believe that all children, regardless of their diverse circumstances and abilities, have the capacity to learn and grow. We provide varied learning opportunities for all children and set high expectations for each child's achievements. We offer the support and encouragement needed to help every child to achieve these goals..

We believe in starting seeing each child as a individual, recognizing their unique strengths and challenges. We'll work closely with you to understand your child's individual needs and build upon their current abilities. Early intervention can have a significant impact on a child's development, so we'll proactively identify any barriers to their learning. Through careful observation, open communication, and formal assessments, we'll determine the best approach to support your child's progress. Our team will collaborate with you to ensure we provide the necessary support, whether it's adapting our environment, program, or practices, or connecting you with specialist resources. We're committed to respecting diversity and incorporating your family's cultural values and beliefs into our curriculum.

We value and respect each child's unique abilities and cultural background. We celebrate the diverse cultures, languages, histories, and traditions of our families. We prioritize understanding and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Our kindergarten community is a vibrant tapestry of diverse families and staff, each with unique beliefs, histories, cultures, languages, and child-rearing practices. We embrace this diversity as a valuable resource, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding among our children. By recognizing and respecting differences—from hair color and family structure to languages spoken and cultural traditions—we equip our children with the skills they need to navigate a complex world. We believe that teaching children to appreciate and celebrate their differences is the foundation for building a confident and inclusive community.

We are committed to ongoing reflection and improvement. We continually review and refine our practices to best meet the needs of our children, families, and staff. We prioritize professional learning, value the knowledge of local families and communities, and gather information to support children's developmental learning.
